The ReezyTheSpillKid Interview

Get to know ReezyTheSpillKid, the 21 year old artist from Saginaw, Texas.

Who are you?

I'm ReezyTheSpillKid I'm from Saginaw, Texas a city that's surrounded by Fort Worth. I grew up and lived there most of my life. I'm 21 years old and I'm an artist. Ive produced songs for myself and other artists and I've been rapping since I was in 6th grade, so around 10 years I've been rapping but I've only been taking it serious for about a year now.

What is the music scene like where you're from?

It's so cluttered haha, everyone wants to rap over here and to be honest 90% of them are trash.

Are there any rappers in your area that you are cool with or make music with?

Ive got two homies out here doing their thing, one of them is SoulTheGuru but he's not really a rapper, he's just an artist he just hit people with that vibe music and when we link up we mix the vibe with the rap and make hits. Also my boy Bryce, who got more heat than me in his unreleased vault. We make music together all the time we low-key like a two man group but we both can hold it down on our own on solo tracks so we make crazy shit together all the time.

So did you guys all grow up together or did you find each other through music?

Me and Soul went to school together, I knew him my freshman year and we been cooking for about four years but we started releasing music together in 2018. Bryce and I met through our job at Jimmy Johns and we literally started making music ASAP. We've been cooking together for about two years but we started dropping in 2018 as well.

Who are your influences when it comes to music and rap?

I really look up to Young Thug, A$AP Rocky, Gunna, and Jay Critch, Those are some of my favorite artists right now that I feel like inspire me the most. I see them doing their thing and im just tryna get it how they got it, they did they're own shit and got a bag off it so im tryna do my own thing and get a bag like them haha.

I agree, all the stuff they're doing right now is crazy, A$AP Rocky has some of the best music videos out right now as well.

Yes, Rocky is the goat with visuals haha.

What are some goals you have right now for music and your career?

My goals right now is just to have my music heard. I have great music in my vault but before I start dropping I need more people to start appreciating this heat I have out now.

Do you plan on staying in Texas or do you want to move to a more music based city?

Im thinking about going to Atlanta and seeing what happens over there but I don't know, I wanna stay in Texas because its home, but the support here is trash. I get more love in other states than I do at home so its conflicting but imma do whatever is best for me.

Why do you feel you don't get support in Texas?

Because the local rap game is cluttered, there are so many people who are trash that folks won't even give people the chance, but I ain't tripping on it I still got some more fans outside my city than in haha.

Ya, I get that. I feel like Atlanta would be cool, a lot of great rappers come outta there.

What kind of stuff are you working on right now? Any new projects?

I got about 100 unreleased songs right now haha. I honestly don't know what I wanna do with them tho, I could group some songs together and have some songs together and have some albums and mixtapes and EP's but for now I'm just holding on to them and waiting til the time is right to start dropping.

Have you collaborated with any producers or artists on your unreleased music?

Producers ya but no new artists but I might have one or two I could work with in the future who are local.

What is the hardest thing about being a young artist?

Getting people to support you. People will refuse to listen to you just because you're not mainstream that's probably the shitiest part, folks really won't give you a chance.

What advice would you give to kids who want to follow the same career path as you?

Get ready for all the hate and keep grinding through out all the shit talk and be able to change and get better too, that's the key to making it. You have to be able to take criticism and proving folks wrong.
